Woman

                                          sketch- Prashant Pawar
I did learn the word 'femininity', quite late,
Though the meaning my heart knew
The day I gasped my first breath,
while you pulled a smile with joy atop that pain.

Then grew up I, to discover how rusty and dry
this world would be, but for the fragrance of
Kindness and love you spread around
Not a girl met I, who disproved me what I just said!

When the menfolk went on to boast their chests
Of strength and pride, worthy of mere blood and sorrow
You chose, a silent path of love and sacrifice
Not to say men are heartless but to say you are wonderful

Lately you wanted to equal man totally, they say
Oh, fine, but I beg not to loose your femininity in the pursuit
For that sure was not nature's plan, Or is it the man
Who is failing to make understand you're so special?

Insecure they are, who call you inferior and second,
For in the battle of silence, hearts you rip apart
Which quite a few knew how to mend back right,
Oh, someone called you a mystery not without a reason!
